The Remainder, 2020, Video installation
The Remainder is an imagery to map artist's hometown memories through his and family’s shared lens, rejuvenating relational space in-between somatic actions. A synopsis from dreams to memory rearrangement. Sustaining to interrogate how locality is intersected and poised in a transpersonal pandemic context as to how vitality migrates in space. Namely, his affective state of events within the tacit geo-identity, building the relationship based on distant intimacy/intimate distance.

Artist Background:
B.1999, Kunming, China. London & Beijing based artist. Currently studying at Chelsea College of Arts, UAL. The mediums of practitioner’s works include poetry, moving image, painting, performance, photography and installation.
Mahxium’s practice and research stem from the transpersonal semantics of distant intimacy, geo- identity, and experience in itself. His works facilitate the contingency on his primary focus on energy dynamics. This framework anticipates him actualizing the phenomenon of transposing individual perception to a shared experience.
